Kathy Richardson-
These are some answers to some of your questions....
I would suggest that you start out with a wiki on Wikispaces- Read through Creating a Wiki
Use your Home Page for a "This is our class" page

Add
arg-blu-blu-globe-trans.gif a few twinklers from the "Dress up your Wiki" page
Create a 'New Page' for the Reading around the Planet'

      • Read through "Our City" Podcasts and perhaps try a podcast
      • I might take a few photos of Farwell and your school- then add some student comments in text or audio
Create a 'New Page' for the Olympics'
  • Add some of the links for the NBC Olympic videos-
  • Discuss the sport then try the 'Olympic math pages'

Creating a Wiki- a Wiki that follows the steps to create itself created by Edgewood teachers
  • Go to Wiki basics for adding text, photos, objects etc.
  • Wiki basics: how to add a table:
    • Consider a table for all of your students (initials or first names)
    • Each of your student initials (or first names) will link to a new page- their own page
    • You can embed or link student activities which they can use for practice
    • Go to Scholastic or Thinkfinity for some student activities
      • Locate the activity and copy the URL-
        • paste thatURL into your wiki (don't forget the activity name and your directions!)
  • Create a New Page for a class project (i.e. Read Around the Planet)
    • Tony Vincent imagined this Our City Podcast project OurCityHeaderColor.gif
    • Listen to the Podcasts in the Podplayer (upper right area)
    • Go to "Teacher Resources" for his explanation of "How to Create a Podcast"
      • Go to Widget> Audio in the Wikispaces Text Editor box
      • Google has some gadgets that are podcast players
  • Consider the Olympics as a wiki page for your students-
